The material shows a literacy event and a literacy practice carried out during the training of various groups of the Faculty of Education Sciences of the University of Seville (Spain), tutored by Professor Elena Guichot Muñoz. In this intervention, multimodality, art and ICTs come into play in order to break with the traditional learning-teaching process of literacy in Spanish university education. The video shows how the inclusion of these types of events and literary practices motivates a new way of understanding the reading and writing of poetry, which affects the student’s position of power, and helps dilute the division between high culture and vernacular culture.
The ABLA project tries to offer a methodological approach in which artistic expression is the key element for the development of many of the key competences recognized by the European Commission. It is understood that the implementation of this methodological approach within the higher education degrees can introduce clear improvements in the different degrees and subjects involved.
