Seminar Archive «Post Philosophies and the Doing of Inquiry in Literacies Education» (25/01/2022)

Su libro, Go be a writer!: Expanding the curricularlines of literacy learning with children (2016, Teachers College Press), she narrates her research on theories and literacies.

What is the desire for literacy?

The desire for literacy is geared towards the present (ever-changing) needs, wants, and demands of learners with non-humans, but also potential users of literacy artifacts in mind (Kuby & Gutshall Rucker, 2016, p. 4).

Thinking with 8 concepts of post-philosophical inspiration

  • Rhizomes and flight lines
  • Desire assemblies
  • Smooth and striated spaces
  • Silences or absent presence
  • Interactivity
  • Agency enacted
  • Interlacing
  • Becoming

Prospects of Go Be a writer!

  • Theory-Methodology-Pedagogy (mutually constitutive relationships)
  • Time, space, materials, trust and permission
  • Ethics-onto-epistemology (know/be/do)
  • Planning to be flexible
  • ¿Qué es la alfabetización? (cuestiones ontológicas ligadas a la ética y la justicia)
  • (Re)presentation: playful/artistic transcriptions
  • Rhizomatic writing processes

Reflections on Barad's (2003) article on performativity

  • Intra-action
  • Interlacing
  • material-discursive
  • Agency cuts
  • (Re)configuration of the study topics
  • Unpredictable relationships
  • Bodily apparatus and active agency
  • Become (tripod, video) together

(Re)pensar a los niños como totalmente (in)humanos y las alfabetizaciones de otra manera a través de la (re)etimología

  • Adam's personal narrative board
  • Identity=subjectivity?
  • (Re)etymologizing words: intervention and inequality

  • Literacies as everyday mundane
  • Literacies as perpetuators of inequalities
  • Literacies: Making meaning?
  • Representation? And/or something else?
  • Animated literacies not yet known

Post-qualitative research: assumptions and what makes them (un)thinkable and/or (im)possible for research

  • New empiricism and resistant binaries
  • Work with non-representational logic
  • Subjectivity as assembly and/or interweaving
  • Ethical-onto-epistemology (relational view of the world that becomes)

Research as becoming-with:

  • Thinking with theory (Jackson & Mazzei)
  • To think is to experience (Deleuze & Guattari)
  • Concept creation (D&G)
  • Diffracting (Barad)

Persistent queries and current thinking…

  • Ethical-onto-epistemological nature of literacies
  • Intersections of 'new' feminist materialisms, indigenous writers, black feminist scholars, and other thought-provoking perspectives
  • Binary logics: what do they produce for literacies, schools and children?
  • Educational invitations in schools (PK-12 and higher education)
  • La investigación inspirada en posfilosofías
  • Routledge book series

Collective thinking

  • Write/draw some concepts, words, phrases
